Everything the Sheriff's clerk wrote down, in order. Some of it he would like back.
In the Bear Market of Nottingbear, a giant Sheriff Bear taxed every trade, every candle and every nap. He sat on the gold. The strays sat on nothing.
One night a grey stray climbed the castle ivy and took the Sheriff's green hood. It fit perfectly. That was the beginning of the problem.
The Sheriff nailed WANTED posters to every oak. The strays took them down, framed them, and asked for more copies.
Now he takes from the bears and leaves it at the campfire for the band. The band calls itself the Merry Mews. The Sheriff calls it a crime wave.

An arrow with lime feathers, fired through the tax book. Every name on the page belonged to a bear. The arrow has not been removed.

On the first red candle, the band sat in a circle and refused to move. The Sheriff waited all night. The band slept in shifts.
